Interlibrary loan for readers
Readers of Tallinn Central Library can order literature not available in Tallinn libraries from other libraries in Estonia. Before ordering please check the availability from Online Catalogue ESTER.
You can order:
- electronically by filling out a web form Interlibrary loan for readers
- at the Reading Room of the Department of Estonian Literature, at the Music Department or at the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages
The loan period for the materials is determined by the lending library and usually varies from two to four weeks. Interlibrary loans are not renewable. Ordered material is available only in Tallinn Central Library. The reader can keep the copies of the articles. Tallinn Central Library cannot guarantee that materials will arrive in time to meet deadlines.
Price list and payment information:
- the reader has to pay the postage of sending the book back to the lending library
- postage can be paid to the deparments mentioned above when the ordered book has arrived
- the price of the copies is according to the price list of the lending library

Interlibrary loan for libraries
The interlibrary lending allows libraries in Estonia to obtain material not available in their collection to their readers from Tallinn Central Library. To submit your request fill out the interlibrary loan form for libraries.
You can order:
- books
- notes
- copies of articles
You can't order:
- single copies of Estonian and Russian materials
- reference materials
- periodicals
- audio and video recordings
- reading room and most wanted materials
Ordered material will be sent out in 3 to 5 days. Tallinn Central Library cannot guarantee that materials will arrive in time to meet deadlines. Materials ordered by using the interlibrary lending service can only be used in the library in a 30-day period. The reader can keep the copies of the articles.
Price list and payment information:
- according to the price list of Charged Services the copy of an article is charged from the 10th page 1 EEK (0.06 €) a page
- libraries will pay the bill of the copies at the end of the year after Tallinn Central Library has sent an invoice

Inter-library lending is regulated by the Directive of interlibrary lending (decree of Ministry of Culture 1.03.1999, no 7).
